Oh hi,
This week on filmsack it is no MYSTERY as to how we amateur crime-fighting MEN tucked, rolled and shoveled our way into Peacock’s “not so secret” lair of star powered Action/Comedies from 1999 to take down the evil genius who thought to give Pee Wee Herman Flatulence powers. Pull my finger.. (scream ands laugh) Damn, I miss you already Paul Rubens!
Anywho, If I ever had to pick a superhero power … and let’s face it … I got asked this in every job interview since high school … and the correct answer is almost never invisibility … almost never… So I would have to pick … VHS Vigilanty! With the power to be kind and rewind. When the shit goes sideways I just rewind the tape … or fast forward the obscene parts of life … or pause on the good stuff. My only weakness…living in the past. Now excuse me while I go get into my BlockBuster Blue shirt and Khakis…I got a city to save.
Randy, Only shooting stars break the ma uh old… the years start coming and they don’t stop coming.

BRIEF
Champion City already has a superhero, the appropriately named Captain Amazing (Greg Kinnear), but that doesn’t deter the city’s seven quirky amateur crime-fighters, who use the Captain’s capture at the hands of villain Casanova Frankenstein (Geoffrey Rush) as motivation to prove themselves. The only problem is that their strange powers — silverware hurling, bowling, shovel skills, incompetent invisibility and deadly flatulence — aren’t doing them any favors.

FACTS: “Mystery Men hit the big screen on Aug. 6, 1999 — the same weekend as The Sixth Sense and a week after The Iron Giant and The Blair Witch Project. “When that movie came out, it really got kicked in the teeth by the fact that Star Wars [The Phantom Menace] came out at the beginning of the summer. “
