Brian – Playing the crap out of Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales (cartoon-inspired story-driven puzzle role-playing game – match 3) can’t decide if I can buy in.

The Last Stand: Aftermath (Nov 16, 2021)
DEVELOPER: Con Artist Games / PUBLISHER: Armor Games Studios
tbd $20-25 | Steam, Xbox S/X, PS4/5
From the creators of The Last Stand: Union City and Dead Zone comes an all-new singleplayer rogue-lite action adventure. After you become infected by the zombie virus, you set out to explore the post-apocalypse and find hope for your fellow survivors. You can still make a difference. Don’t give up.

You’ll need to stay on your toes, since hordes of zombies still roam the streets, and you’re no superhuman. In fact, you’re one of the infected yourself, and eventually you’ll die, be it from the hostile undead or the virus rampaging through your body. But when that happens, you’ll pick up the game again as a new survivor, with perks and upgrades earned based on your progress from the last, and set out to try again.
Undungeon (Nov 18, 2021)
DEVELOPER: Laughing Machines / PUBLISHER: tinyBuild
Day 1 Gamepass | Steam, PS4, Switch, Xbox One/S/X
Undungeon is a gorgeous Action/RPG driven by intense real-time combat and an immensely rich science fiction story. Travel between dimensions and change the world around you in an attempt to reconstruct the shattered Multiverse.

Colorful pixel art aesthetics: each tree, bush or rock is hand-drawn, each enemy has dozens of carefully crafted animation frames to create a one-of-a-kind visual experience;

Mind-bending science fiction story: Several multidimensional versions of Earth were suddenly merged together, shattering one another in a cataclysmic event known as the Great Shift. This event damaged the fabric of time and space itself, seemingly beyond reconstruction.
You, a Herald, will join a secret interdimensional organization — Herald’s Undercover Bay, or simply H.U.B., created by Dharma to remedy the aftermath of the catastrophe;

Heated real-time battles: control a Herald — almighty hero created by God. Combine their powerful melee and ranged attacks to vanquish your enemies. Heal carefully so that foes don’t steal your remedy, use movement, various buffs, and debuffs to gain the advantage and defeat your rivals.

BRIAN GAME of the week
Recipe for Disaster
Recipe for Disaster is a restaurant management sim with a devious social twist. Contend with wilful staff, questionable cooking skills, demanding customers, and unreliable suppliers as you embark on a culinary misadventure to become the ultimate head chef!
DEVELOPER: Dapper Penguin Studios
PUBLISHER: Kasedo Games
Me Playing – Do you think you could play the audio (at low volume) to the game when we play the video for the stream? It is muted enough that I think the podcast listeners would enjoy it as background music and may help set the mood.

Hey Scott, how does opening and managing your own restaraunt full of low paid works, picky eaters and kitchen fires sound? Well to me…. it sounds like A Recipe for Disaster! Boop’s Patented 10 Point Rating System
Art/Animation: Both art and animation is ok. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded though.
Music/Effects: Love the music. I could listen to this for hours…and I did.
V/O: None
World Building: A bit of light world building. Mostly in your own RPG mind.
Currency/Loot: Cash is cash!
AI/NPCs: I feel like it is me and my staff against the world. So there is something.
Controls: Keyboard and Mouse. It is fine. Does the job.
Interface/HUD: Pretty intuative or at least clear enough to manage
Progression/Tech: Progression is a bumpy ride. By design? Can I accept that?
Replay/Endgame: Like any good simulation. I will be back as they add more content.
– Fun game loop. I always feel like I am managing something in my management sim.
– Music is a lot of fun.
– Making my own meals. Fun!
– Early Access. Sandbox not available yet. But it is coming according to the developer.
– Progression does not feel smooth. Too real man. Too real.
– Sometimes characters just stand and stare at walls.
8 kitchen fires out of 10 everybody is fireds

BRIAN: UnDungeon
Hey Scott and Brian,

Why don’t big IP’s allow their stuff to get made into smaller games once in a while? Nothing wrong with AAA star wars games along side small indie games about star wars, right?

Brian: Agreed! This does occassionally happens on mobile versions. But I would love to see PC games. Like Fallout Shelter

Fun, informative show about games
I love listening to Scott and Brian. They’ve got great chemistry and talk about a lot of games that are formerly unknown to me, and I appreciate that.
