TO THE RESCUE! (Nov 2, 2021)
DEVELOPER: Little Rock Games
PUBLISHER: Freedom Games
Steam (tba), Switch (2022)
To The Rescue! is a charming dog shelter simulator where you are responsible for taking care of dozens of cute dogs in need of a home. It’s not all cuddles and snoot boops though: running a shelter can be a lot of work. You have to manage all of the dogs’ needs in order to maximize their chances of finding the right forever home.

Each day brings new challenges and rewards. Dogs have specific preferences, can get infectious diseases, and can have negative traits. But you can also have fundraisers, get random donations, and help someone find their new best friend. Unfortunately, there’s never enough room, and always more dogs.

Some dogs are more desirable than others, but maybe if you can afford to wait long enough, just maybe, every dog will have their day.

Giants Uprising ( Nov 2, 2021) (early access release) (demo)
DEVELOPER: VARSAV Game Studios
PUBLISHER: VARSAV Game Studios
Steam (tba)
Giants Uprising is a medieval fantasy action adventure game full of Giants and unlimited destruction! Take on the role of a powerful Giant who finally breaks free from enslavement to seek revenge on the ruthless human race.

The ancient race of giants dwindles. Their wisdom is all but forgotten, powerful kings of old dead, and their once proud, great cities lie in ruin, slowly consumed by time and elements. Betrayed by humans – their former friends and allies – nowadays enslaved giants serve as workers and terrible machines of war, used by humans to expand their vast domains.

But the time of reckoning is nigh. As a runaway giant slave, accompanied by your fellow human convict, you will carry your wrath, anger and lust for revenge to the oppressor’s settlements. Reclaim your right to freedom, find what happened with your enslaved kin, smash your enemies and be the spark of the Giant’s Uprising!

EXPERIENCE:
Hey Scott, do you ever just want to play as a mutant bounty hunter with a 3rd arm attached to your back while parquoring your way through a 2d world of sidescrolling and platforming as you scan and pursue across a space western inspired backdrop on hostile planets looking for “bad guys” with bounties to take alive… or not… and to teleport whatever is left of said bad guy, back home for some justice for the people and some currency for your pockets for upgrades and weapons! Well, you can place those space credits right into my extra hand around back…thanks. High five. No..the hand in the front.
Boop’s Patented 10 Point Rating System
Art/Animation: Side scrolling painted backgrounds and some of the most bad ass fight moves that I loved!
Music/Effects: Music is fine. Maybe a little too much audio clutter. But it works.
V/O: None to speak of.
World Building:Pretty good outlaw stuff. Local bosses. I like it.
Currency/Loot: Space Credits of some sort and health drops
AI/NPCs: Mostly area alert stuff. Some will follow farther than others.
Controls: Controller or Keyboard/Mouse. Sidescroller…so Controller for me.
Interface/HUD: Not a lot of interface or HUD. But you don’t really need it.
Replay/Endgame: I think once I am done I will be done.
Pros
– You get to feel like a badass
– a visual pleaser
Cons
– The 3rd arm gimick doesn’t work in a crowd.
– Challenges seem a little unbalanced in parts
Score:
8 arm windmills out of 10 dead men tell no tales

FEEDBACK
QUESTION(S)
Hey Scott and Brian,

Has scott ever explained exactly why he hates tower defense mechanics so much?

Thanks, Jason
RESPONSES
Scott:
Brian: Yes. He has hated towers ever since he was kept in one by an evil witch and had to grow his hair out to land a prince.
