|___RELEASING THIS WEEK___
|Moonglow Bay (Oct 26, 2021)
|Xbox Day One, Steam
|In Moonglow Bay, you play as a rookie angler, working together with friends, family, and neighbours to hone your fishing skills, nourish relationships, and restore a remote town’s fractured community.
Moonglow Bay is set along the Eastern Canadian coastline during the 1980s and offers players a diverse and emotionally charged story, complemented by a relaxing, slice-of-life fishing RPG.
Whether playing solo or with a friend in drop-in-drop-out local co-op, you’ll need to cook your catch of the day, then sell a variety of recipes to upgrade your shop, gear, and fishing boat.
Combining a playful voxel art style with a sumptuous soundtrack, your journey is split into several distinct story arcs featuring a fully-inhabited town to traverse and the potential for epic encounters with the rumoured Mystical Monsters of Moonglow.

The developers describe the content like this:
A small percentage of people may experience discomfort or seizures when exposed to flashing lights, so please be cautious if you are sensitive to either flashing imagery, blood, or violence. There’s rarely anything but that to see in Happy Game.
Happy Game also depicts various fantasy characters participating in highly absurd comical violence. You’ll often see blood on the floor (best case scenario), witness the decapitation of adorable bunnies, and much more. No filter.

|Me Playing – Do you think you could play the audio (at low volume) to the game when we play the video for the stream? It is muted enough that I think the podcast listeners would enjoy it as background music and may help set the mood.

|12.74 on Fanatical ($15 Steam) | Part of the Xbox Game Pass
|Oh hi, is this a Rouglike FPS Shooter where you have the hands of a wizard and the heart of a warrior! Will you need to Collect runes and keys to determine which beasts you will face in the pit when you summon it!? Are you shuffled a rotating number of instances that you have to choose at an alter…this way or that… focusing on collecting specific motes to collect…with some motes being transient and others being something you can take back to town eventually. Wealth! Get more wealth! Who cares about shuffling your potential upgrades when you complete an alter. I certainly didn’t…and look at me…I’m ready to go back into the pit again! Each level of the pit (so far) has 4 alters. When you complete and alter you get a choice of an upgrade to the ability tied to your left or right hand or to your defenses. Usually a buff…sometimes a replacement. Pick between long range, short range, focused, scattered and intensity/power/rate…it gets complicated but the results are really important. especially as you stack those buffs to go deeper into the pit!
|Boop’s Patented 10 Point Rating System
|Art/Animation: I really did the style. Everything is cover in a neon haze over some Doom/Quake styled levels.
|Music/Effects: The music is hardcore! The effects are otherworldy. Ding Ding…Ding Ding…
|World Building: It is a pretty small world full of horror set in a sort of Dark Ages town that caps off THE PIT!
|Currency/Loot: Motes, Keys, Power Effects
|AI/NPCs: NPCs are on magnets. Get close enough and they are coming to get you.
|Controls: Played with keyboard and mouse primarily. Controller was too slow for me even at top sensitivity.
|Interface/HUD: Pretty limited interface and hud
|Replay/Endgame: It is a Roguelike that involves run after run. You play it until it is no longer fun. Come back later…maybe
– Looks good. Nostalgia with a luminescent haze to make it all feel new and exciting…until it doesn’t…DOOOM
– Easy to hop in and play! A lot of fun. At first.
– Stupid enviromental objects that stop my flow. I WANT TO FLOW DAMNIT!
– Progression is slow.
– I could use just a little bit more handholding.
