ELR 213 : Game or Lame – Resident Evil 5 for Xbox 360

Is it Game or is it Lame:

Resident Evil 5 (Xbox 360)

Not quite ready to drop the $60 bucks on RE5 and wanting more than just the demo I headed to Block Buster to rent this Zombie thriller.

Unfortunately, so did everyone else. I walked up to the customer service counter in my best drag foot zombie impersonation and moaned “Gaaaames.”

The clerk behind the counter was hip to my jive and responded by finger shooting me in the head. Hey dude…you used the wrong finger. At any rate.

I had to head home and download the 1.5 gig demo off Xbox Live to get my Zombie on.

My first impression of the game was “man…these graphics rock.” Seriously, this may be one of the best looking games I have on my 360.

RE5 runs on a more advanced version of Capcom’s standard MT Framework game engine that you may recall from Dead Rising and Lost Planet.

I couldn’t be more excited at this point. This game will be played in the daylight…none of that tunnel vision crap you get from some other games.. *cough* F.E.A.R. 2 *cough* nope. There would be Zombies with texture mapping that would have to be spot on to pull off a creepy thriller game like Resident Evil in the full light of day.

Verdict: Game
