BRIAN GAME of the week
Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator
Potion Craft is an alchemist simulator where you physically interact with your tools and ingredients to brew potions. You’re in full control of the whole shop: invent new recipes, attract customers and experiment to your heart’s content. Just remember: the whole town is counting on you.
DEVELOPER: niceplay games
Me Playing – Do you think you could play the audio (at low volume) to the game when we play the video for the stream? It is muted enough that I think the podcast listeners would enjoy it as background music and may help set the mood.

Oh hi, I thought I hated crafting and serving the medieval public. I was wrong! I love it as it is presented in Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator. Wake up. Grab the herbs from the garden and head to the front of my home/shop to see what crazy ass requests the villagers will make. Your husband was trampled by his own horse…sweet….I can whip you something up in my Cauldron. The ingredients go into the mortar and pestle and off I go on the alchemy map. What’s that? Can I make some poison as well. Boy these medieval people are patient. I been back here fiddle farting around with my pestle for almost an hour. Also, I think I stainded my equipment! nope. it cleaned itself. Add more water!
Boop’s Patented 10 Point Rating System
Art/Animation: The art is inspired by actual old school Alchemy Books! Animations are limited…but amusing.
Music/Effects: Pretty much the same music in a loop. But it is good music.
V/O: We ain’t got no time for that!
World Building: Sandbox your own Story as you respond to requests from customers. Neat
Currency/Loot: Alchemy Ingredients, Coins for spending and selling stuffs.
AI/NPCs: The NPCs are hilarious. A lot of requests for nefarious deeds.
Controls: Used the keyboard and mouse because there is a lot of point and clicking and shaking about of the mouse. requires a degree of finesse.
Interface/HUD: This may be the most brilliant part of this game. Smart visual choices that make the game move more quickly.
Replay/Endgame: So far I am loving to hop back in. The game look is so satisfying. Endgame is out of reach because of Early Access.
– No hand holding. We are sandboxing it. If you like the freedom of choice this is a pro. If not. Con!
– Clarity of ideas. You want to unlock a light effect…it is pretty easy to pick up on what ingredient you need and which direction on the map you need to go.
– Early Access. I need the promise of game depth to transpire.
– Being beholden by the arrival of merchants to progress is a little frustrating and not something I want to be a challenge.
