OCD overload

Hmmm…I started drafting a blog post back in May 2010 about my OCD. I stopped for some reason and can’t remember where I was going with it…now I’m concerned about my ADD.

Here is where I started:

When most people hear the words Obsessive Compulsive Disorder they most likely think of the physical compulsion of doing repetitive rituals, such as checking that the doors of your home are locked 12 times before going to bed. To varying degrees this can be quite debilitating in someone’s life. But that’s just one side of the coin. I have OCD and the primary source of my troubles are the obsessive thoughts or desires to understand, to completion, the answers to questions.

I think it might have had to do with the creative process. Your guess is as good as mine.

    Hmmm . . .

Was it about OCD stopping you from actually getting creative stuff done? You worry about all the details and as time passes you’ve created very little, or nothing, and spent all/most of your time on the small (and sometimes insignificant) bits?

This occasionally happens to me and a very good friend of mine. Don’t worry about all the details and just roll with it.

    That’s my best guess, lol.

A friend of mine has this exact type of OCD. She’s an amazing engineer, but struggles with other aspects of her life. When relationships go wrong, or there are issues in the relationship, she has a compulsion to understand everything about it, and when it is things she will never know the why’s to (ie her boyfried broke up w/her) it is almost debilitating.

Not sure what to follow that up with, just know you aren’t alone I guess? Take care, you do amazing things, dont let this get you down. 🙂
