DESCRIPTION
Rogue Heroes is a 1-4 player classic adventure game with modern rogue-lite elements. Team up with friends to combat procedural dungeons, explore an expansive overworld full of secrets and take down the Titans to save the once peaceful land of Tasos!
EXPERIENCE
Oh hi, Zeld….er…Travel to the past in the merry old land of Tasos where the 4 Goddesses locked away the 4 Titans long ago but the recent genocide of the natives of the land has the old titans stirring and it is your job (and possibly 3 other friends) to pick up the challenge. Explore the Overworld, Adventure, Town Mangament, Dungeon Crawl, Fish, Swim, Upgrade your stats, Upgrade your weapons, Unlock classes, Loot chests, kill the enemies, teleport, die, repeat, sell your goods.
Art: Pixel Art that reminds us of that you can be immersed into a playful and dire world with simplified visuals.
Animation: Sprite like animation.
Music/Effects: Totally forgettable and muted. But not in the way either.
V/O: Very subdued mubble speak. It is fine.
World Building: A lite bit of world building. Very Zelda like.
Currency: Gems to spend or sacrifice for another Dungeon Run or Town Management and Upgrades to skills & equipment. Gold coins to deal in the dungeon to open chests and replinish items.
Gameplay/Loop: Pretty solid Zelda but with more modern rogue elements. Increasing your strike range is a goddess send.Co-op is fine but more of a gimmick in the Rogue’s opinion.
AI/NPCs: Enemies are competent but predictable. Towny talk is basic but fine.
Controls: Controller or Keyboard. I played controller. Handles fine. Some forward lunging that can be annoying.
Interface: Basic as you can get. Screen resolution is the only real option.
Replay/Endgame: I doubt I will revisit this game once I complete…but at close to 100 hours of potential gameplay..that is fine.
Score: 7 gems of out 10 trips to the dungeon to die for some more gems
